Mr and Mrs Shumba

This is how it all began…

Some may think us of old school, having met through a mutual friend (Tinder hadn’t blown up yet), we prefer being called classic. A blind date was arranged. He wore a hat, she thought I was bald and hiding it. She was quiet, reserved, well put together; he thought she was a snob.

The date was pleasant enough, why not have another? And another…and another

Through persistent phone calls and many more dates, she eventually learnt that he wasn’t balding, and he learnt that she was just a girl from the township who likes nice things. The vibes were good, fun was had and love grew. Soon it did not make sense to continue the journey alone. She colored the blank spaces in his life, a portrait of an inescapable future with her was clear. A ring had to be bought. Here we are today and forever to celebrate that!

How did he propose?

He proposed after the Lobola negotiations, early 2015. Needless to say it was not a surprise! He wanted to do this out of respect for my parents, with their permission to go ahead.

We were best of friends, still are. Both very ambitious, driven, hardworking, want the same beautiful things out of this life.

Please provide a short description of your wedding day?

Our wedding was a garden wedding, under a glass Marquee. So we went for very simple pastel colours with a gold touch.

We had our Traditional wedding in September of 2016, then the White wedding on the March of 2017.
